Summary: This 1883 photograph taken in Medora by Truman Ingersoll is a very complicated scene. Two men stand on the loading dock of the completed structure by the tracks. One man holds a cow skull upright against his legs, Another man in suit, riding boots, white wide brimmed hat and overcoat stands in front of cut lumber in the foreground. Six men in work clothes stand in front of frame of new building and another man in suit riding boots and slouch hat is seated on a saddled horse in front of framing of a building. Four refrigerator cars and one flat bed car sit on railroad railings in front of loading dock. The railroad cars have painted labels "Northern Pacific Refrigerator" on the back of the car and "Wisconsin, Minnesota & Oregon. Dakota, Montana, Idaho. Washington Territory. Superior, Duluth, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Fargo, Bismarck, Miles City, Billings, Livingston, Yellowstone Park, Bozeman, Helena, Missoula, Tacoma, Portland, And All Other Points on NORTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD.
