Title: The Medora-Deadwood Stage in front of the brick Hotel de Mores

Summary: Side view of Medora-Deadwood Stage parked in front of Hotel De Mores in Medora (DT), in 1883. Six men on top of stage, driver holding reins and another man and two little girls seated on drivers bench. Inside stage are two women and one man. Stage is drawn by matched pairs of horses, one pair dark and another pair white. The building is a two-story brick structure. __This same scene, 00008-00054, slightly different in poses, is in the book Prairie Tales, a history of Bowman County (N.D.), this photograph shows six men sitting on top of a Medora to Deadwood stagecoach. The driver, Gary Paddock, holds reins and whip on far side of driver's seat, next to him on front side is a man with two small girls (James Foley, Sr. and daughters Mary and Rachel). Inside the stagecoach are three women, Mrs. James Foley and Mrs. Norman Lebo, visible past the roll-down shade for the doors and windows. The side of the stage is emblazoned with M. S. & For'd. Co., U.S.M. and Medora. Four horses are harnessed to the coach. In the background is a two story brick building with sign for Milwaukee Brewing Company Lager Beer. The Medora Stage and Forwarding Company, owned by the Marquis de Mores, operated between Medora (N.D.) and Deadwood, S.D. The company used four coaches for daily trips, which took about 36 hours.
