Beyond the Court: HS Basketball History

Learn about the history and nostalgia of high school basketball in North Dakota.

Things to do:

  • View the temporary exhibit in the Inspiration Gallery: Yesterday and Today features memorabilia from schools across North Dakota.
  • See clothing, tournament brackets, news articles, trophies, and other items showcasing high school basketball. 
  • Stop by the State Archives to look at past editions of “The Hoopster,” state tournament programs, and other treasures. 
  • View a display of basketball photographs from throughout the years. 
  • Enjoy daily self-led activities for children and adults.

March 12-15 Special Programming:

  • Watch two Prairie Public Television documentaries, “One Shining Moment” and “Basketball, Water, and the Lost City of Elbowoods,” running continuously in the Great Plains Theater.

The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum is open Mon.-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sat.-Sun., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
