The North Dakota State Archives will offer this free educational program focused on caring for and preserving personal photograph collections. The program is recommended for ages 10 and older.
Led by Photo Archivist Matt Ely, the program will provide practical guidance on identifying common preservation issues and protecting photographs for long-term care. Those attending in person are encouraged to bring five to 10 photographs for discussion and questions.
The same program will be offered on three dates and in multiple formats:
Wednesday, Jan. 21, 6 p.m. — Virtual livestream on the State Archives Facebook page
Thursday, Jan. 29, 3:30 p.m. — Classroom, North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, Bismarck
Saturday, Feb. 7, 10:30 a.m. — Classroom, ND Heritage Center & State Museum, Bismarck

This event is part of both the ND250 commemoration of the United States’ 250th birthday in 2026 and Vinterfest, a month-long celebration of winter on the northern Plains featuring educational programs, outdoor recreation, and cultural traditions.
