Discover the art and history of fiber crafts. This free family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to explore the intricate process of transforming fibers into fabric and quilts through engaging, hands-on activities. No registration is required.
Attendees will journey through interactive stations in the State Museum’s Corridor of History, each designed to demonstrate a key step in quilt making. Participants can move through the stations at their own pace, engaging with knowledgeable volunteers who will provide instruction and guidance on carding raw fibers, turning fibers to thread, dyeing techniques, weaving fibers into fabric, designing quilt patterns, and sewing quilt pieces together.
The Capital Quilters will host an open quilt show March 14-16 in celebration of National Quilting Day. Celebrate with fellowship, sharing and learning by viewing the quilts on display throughout the weekend or participate in open sewing Saturday, March 15, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
