In This Our Home: The Mary Sewall Story

Witness history come alive as Chautauqua performer Donna Sewall Davidge embodies Mary Sewall, the remarkable wife of William Wingate Sewall. Gain insights into the life of this extraordinary woman who stood by her husband's side as he guided Theodore Roosevelt through the Dakota Badlands in the 1880s.

Davidge is the great-granddaughter of William Sewall, a trusted guide of Theodore Roosevelt's during his time in the Badlands. To preserve her family's legacy, in 1997 Davidge purchased Sewall House, a home William built in 1865, in Island Falls, Maine. She transformed the historic place into an award-winning yoga retreat and has been its proud owner ever since.

This free presentation in the Russell Reid Auditorium is sponsored by North Dakota State Historical Society, Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, and Humanities North Dakota.
