Title: Tania M. Aanerud
Date: 1984 - 2006

Inscription/Marks: 4/13/1984
Summary: Tania Marian Aanerud, 21, died January 2, 2006, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck after a long, arduous battle with heart disease. She survived cardiomyopathy, open-heart surgery at age 10 and the ultimate gift of life, a heart transplant at age 16. Funeral services were held Friday, January 6 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Tania was born on April 13, 1984, in Minot, North Dakota, to Eldon Aanerud and Alice Edgerly. She attended grade school in Parshall and Garrison, North Dakota. She attended junior high and high school in Bismarck and graduated with her class from BismarckHigh School in 2002 despite missing more school than she was able to attend while waiting a year and a half for a new heart. While in Garrison, Tania was involved in cheerleading, the speech team, dance line, volleyball, and band before the need for a new heart started curtailing her activities. She attended Moorhead State College briefly, and completed her course work for an associate degree in Television Production at Brown College in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. She was working on completing her Television Production internship at the time of her death. While attending college in Minnesota, Tania worked as a clerk and finally store manager for Ragstock Clothing Company, a job she truly loved as she loved to shop and loved clothes and fashion. She had recently ventured out to the west coast and was scouting out the hip, young-people friendly of Portland, Oregon, to make her mark in the world. Tania loved attending cutting edge musical performances in Minneapolis and had a dream of working in the music video industry or fashion merchandising. She had taken up knitting with a storm and had completed many projects and was working on piles of yarn. She loved cats, any kind of cat, sparkly jewelry, and the colors of turquoise and lime. Her eyes were able to be donated and hopefully some day someone else will open their eyes and see the world with Tania vision. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Alice and Hugh Robinson of Bismarck; her sister, Amanda Aanerud of St. Paul, Minnesota; her big brother, Erick (Big Red) Aanerud grandfather, Elmer Aanerud of Parshall, North Dakota; plus many, many uncles, aunts, and cousins, especially her "second mother" Aunt Carol Edgerly, who was given by divine chance to marry her Uncle Carl Edgerly, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Aanerud; her grandparents, Marian and Charles Edgerly; her grandmother, Marie Aanerud; and her step-grandparents, Helen and JP Robinson. The family would like to thank the entire team of wonderful staff at St. Alexius Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit for the heroic, loving, and compassionate care Tania received in their hands.
