Summary: Paul Edward Ackerman, 48, Wishek, ND, died December 22, 2009 at the Wishek Community Hospital. Funeral services were held December 26, 2009 at the United Church of Christ, Wishek. Burial was in the Wishek City Cemetery. Paul Edward Ackerman, son of Albert W. and Luella (Ulmer) Ackerman, was born August 3, 1961 at Bismarck, ND. He grew up in the Wishek area, attended Wishek Public School, and graduated from Wishek High School in 1979. Paul attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND where he received an Associate degree in business management. After his schooling he returned to Wishek where he continued to farm and ranch until the time of his death. Paul was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wishek and served on several UCC boards and committees. He served on the board of the Wishek Home for the aged for many years and Wishek Economic Development Corporation for two years. Paul was very proud of his community and served wherever he could. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially with his nephew and nieces, taking them for tractor and combine rides. Paul is survived by his parents, Albert W. and Luella Ackerman, Wishek; one sister, Ruby Ackerman, Fargo, ND; one brother, Waldo (Susan) Ackerman, Aurora, CO; nephew and nieces, Kenny (14), Amber (12) and Emma (7) Ackerman, Aurora, CO; and brother-in-law, Jerry Sand, Plattsmouth, NE. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel; one sister, Alice Sand; and his grandparents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
