Summary: Russell Chalmers Aeschliman, 84, Bismarck, went to be with his Lord on April 12, 2007. Services were held Friday, April 20 at Parkway Funeral Service with the Rev. Dale Naaben officiating. Burial was in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Russell was born on September 21, 1922, in Key West, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Jenny Aeschliman. He graduated from high school and then attended two years of mechanic school. Russell married LaVerne Nelson on June 28, 1947 in Warren, MN. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. Russell entered the US Army in March of 1943 during World War II and served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He did maintenance work for Mary College until his retirement. Russell’s greatest joy was hands on work including mechanics, maintenance work, home building, and carpentry. Russ had a great love for fishing and gardening. He was a life member of VFW. Russell leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, LaVerne of Bismarck; his son, David (Anna Marie) Aeschliman of Mandan; his daughters, Jeannie (Creig) Antliff of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Julie (Blane) Braunberger of Mandan; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
