Summary: Walter Curtis Alexander, 79, of Spring Brook, ND, passed away October 24, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND. Funeral services were held October 27, 2008, at Epping Lutheran Epping. Rev. Steve Anderson officiated and interment was at Riverview Cemetery in Williston. Walter Curtis Alexander was born July 10, 1929, to Walter H. and Cora (Glans) Alexander at Spring Brook. He was raised in Spring Brook and educated at Spring Brook School through 8th grade, at which time, he transferred to Epping High School, graduating in 1947. Upon graduation, Curtis attended NDSU at Fargo, ND, and then NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND. Curtis enlisted in the US Air Force in January, 1951, and was stationed in England until his discharge in December, 1954. Upon his discharge, Curtis returned to Spring Brook and began working for the post office as a rural mail carrier, as well as working on the family farm. Eventually, he left the post office and farmed full time. Curtis partially retired from farming in 2007. Farming was his life. He was happiest when Scott joined him in the operation. On June 28, 1968, Curtis was united in marriage to Alice “Lolla Mae” (Huntley) Joyce at Bismarck, ND. The couple established their home in Spring Brook. Curtis and Lolla Mae would spend their winters in Sun City, AZ. He was a member of Epping Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Curtis is survived by his wife, Lolla Mae of Spring Brook; son, Scott (Joan) Alexander of Williston; daughters, Carolyn (Darryl) White Cloud and Dawn (Leon) Helstad, both of Williston; six granddaughters; six granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Vesta (Pete) McKee of Roseland, VA, and Avis (LeRoy) Lokken of Tioga, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
