Summary: William “Bill” Allard, age 86, of Bottineau, ND, formerly of Overly, ND, passed away September 8, 2008, at a Bottineau nursing home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated September 11, 2008, at the St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Bottineau. The celebrant at the mass was Reverend Father Paul Schuster. Loretta Wall was the community leader and Elaine Freeman was the organist. Casket bearers were Tyler Scheirlinck, Karl Koehmstedt, Harvey Wittmayer, Harvey Sebelius, Marlo Hill and Gary Hill. Donald Koehmstedt was an honorary casket bearer. Military Honors were presented by the Rolette American Legion. Burial was at the Notre Dame Catholic Cemetery in Willow City. William Allard, a son of Bert and Lilly (Lord) Allard, was born October 23, 1921, at Tarsus, ND. He was reared there and attended country school in the area. In 1942, he began working for Leo Koehmstedt on his farm near Overly. He entered the US Army on November 20, 1942, and served in the Pacific, until his discharge on December 6, 1945. Bill returned to work for the Koehmstedts. He married Lillian Cote on November 4, 1947, in Willow City, ND. They made their home in Overly. In 2002, Bill retired from farming because of his eyesight. They moved to Bottineau in 2003 and entered the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Bottineau; 4 daughters, Judy Allard and Susan (Leland) Larshus of Bottineau, Lori (Al) Scheirlinck of Boissevain, Manitoba, Canada, and Renae (John) Steinauer of San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren; brother, John Allard of Bottineau; sister, Theresa Ellis of Towner; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Leslie Allard; sisters, Charlotte Boguslawski and Lucille Alameda; and brothers, Alfred and Walter Allard.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
