Summary: Michael Allen, 63, Flasher, died April 1, 2006, at his home. Services were held April 5, 2006 at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck with the Rev. Dale Carmen officiating. Burial was held in the Hazelton Cemetery following the service. Michael Wayne Allen was born on January 4, 1943 at Hemet, CA, the son of Homer and Lucille (Couer) Allen. He graduated from Hemet High School in 1960. Michael attended two years at Pacific Lutheran University receiving his Associate of Science Degree from Mt. San Jacinto College, Hemet, CA in 1973. Michael worked for thirty years at Eastern Municipal Water District starting as summer help while attending college until his retirement in 1994, at which time he was superintendent of construction. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Little Lake Fire Dept. of Hemet, CA, for twenty years. He had his private pilot’s license and owned his own plane while living in Hemet and enjoyed his Sunday trips flying to Laughlin, NV and several trips to Mexico. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol of Riverside County. Michael served in the Army from 1968 to 1970. Michael enjoyed racing jeeps in the Baja races and loved to water ski in his younger days. He moved to his wife’s home state in 1995, to begin his retirement which he spent raising a small herd of cattle at Flasher, and turning a barren farmstead into a thing of beauty. Michael took great pride in having a nice yard and farm buildings. Michael held the position of treasurer for the Flasher Lions Club and was also a member of the Flasher American Legion. Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of twenty-six years, Darlene Allen, of Flasher, ND, his son, Kirk and his wife, Camille along with their children, Vanessa and Michael of Hemet, CA; stepdaughters, Doreen Shea and children, Shawna and Kayla of Hazelton, ND, Dawnette (Paul) Sylvain and children, J.C. and Shania of Deerfield, NH, Ty and Daelen of Hazelton, children of his step son, Allen West who preceded him in death, September 11, 2000; his sister Linda Rodarte; two nieces and two nephews all of California; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; his mother and father-in-law, Andrew and Annetha Haid of Hazelton, ND; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lucille Allen. Also left to grieve are his faithful companions, Keesha and Patch.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
