Summary: Allan Anderson, 94, of Culbertson, MT, died January 26, 2009, at the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson. His funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church in Culbertson, with Pastor Tim Hutslar officiating. Interment, with military honors, was in the Hillside Cemetery, Culbertson. Allan was born February 6, 1914, in White Earth, ND, the son of John and Josephine (Uleberg) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Minot, ND, graduating from Minot High School. Allan worked at various jobs before entering the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a remote control turret repairman in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1946. On March 19, 1946, Allan was united in marriage to Fern Burtman in California. Allan was a life insurance agent for New York Life for many years. He later served as a Hospital Administrator in Poplar, MT, for 10 years. Allan and Fern moved to Helena, MT, where Allan worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Montana until his retirement. In his retirement, Allan sold real estate in the Helena area. In 1999, they moved to Culbertson to be closer to family. Allan entered the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in June of last year, where he had been a resident since. Allan was a member of the United Methodist Church in Culbertson and a former DAV member. He enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, discussing politics, traveling and spending time at the Anderson Ranch, east of Culbertson. He is survived by his wife, Fern, of Culbertson; two sons, Douglas (Carol) Anderson of San Francisco, CA and Robert (Penny) Anderson of rural Culbertson; five grandchildren, Lilly Anderson, Erik Anderson, Luke Anderson, David (Ashley) Anderson and James Anderson; two brothers, Norman (Dorothy) Anderson and John (Mary Jane) Anderson both of Minot; sister, Ruth Anderson also of Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Paul, Gordon, James and Robert; and 2 sisters, Avis and Eunice

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
