Summary: Dorothy Anderson, 71, of Williston, ND, formerly of the Culbertson, MT community died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson, with the Rev. Al Beyer officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Culbertson. Dorothy M. Anderson was born in rural Culbertson, Montana on September 28, 1936 to Adam and Lilly (Damm) Brese. She was educated in the Culbertson School system, graduating from high school in 1954. On January 27, 1953 Dorothy was married to LaVerne Anderson in Sidney, Montana. Two sons, Douglas and Lonnie, were born to this union of almost 55 years. Dorothy worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator for 10 years and with Culbertson School District #17 for 31 years as school secretary and as district clerk. Her retirement was celebrated in December 1993. She and LaVerne enjoyed traveling until her health started to fail. Dorothy loved to shop and had many collections, most notable was her collection of Precious Moments. She enjoyed following high school sports and baseball, especially when her boys and grandkids played. Making ceramics, decorating their home for every holiday, buying presents, baking (the freezer was always full!) and cooking were among her favorite interests. She especially enjoyed her family gatherings. She loved dogs and cats and always had a pet. She was a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson. Dorothy was a resident at Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston the past 2½ years before her transfer to St. Alexius Medical Center two weeks ago where she diedfrom complications of her 45-year battle with diabetes on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Dorothy is survived by husband, LaVerne, Culbertson; sons, Douglas (Shirley) of Tacoma WA, Lonnie (Shannon) of Great Falls, MT; Grandchildren, Heather Anderson of Tacoma, WA, Amber Anderson of Kalispell, MT, and Sara (Josh) Goroski of Omaha, NE, and Adam, David and Mary Anderson of Great Falls, MT; and two great-grandchildren in Tacoma, WA; sister, Barbara (Harley) Wuest of Glendive, MT; sisters-in-law, Helen Brese of Ellensburg, WA, Joanne Anderson of Billings, MT and Ardiss Anderson Kunze of Lander, WY; several nieces and nephews. Preceeding Dorothy in death were her parents; brother, James Brese; and an infant sister.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
