Summary: Howard L. Anderson, age 89 of Bottineau formerly of Willow City, passed away on January 9, 2008 at aBottineau hospital. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Church in Willow City. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Diane Krumm. Martha Larson was the organist and Curtis Medalen was the soloist. The congregation sang selected hymns.Casket bearers were Dwight Marks, Chuck Gibbs, DwaneTim Semler, Shane Walker, Randy Sattler, Claude Heilman and Randy Myers. Honorary casket bearers were Howard’s grandchildren. Military Honors were presented by the Lyle B. Rich American Legion Post 112. Burial was in the Memorial Park at Willow City. Howard L. Anderson, a son of Harry and Hilda (Miller) Anderson, was born on October 11, 1918 in rural McHenry County. He grew up in the Willow City area and attended grade school at a one room school in rural McHenry County. He later graduatedfrom Willow City High School. After his graduation, he attended junior college in Sacramento, CA. In 1942, he was drafted into the Army Air Force and was stationed in Dakka, India for 27 months where he loaded B-24 bombers. He corresponded with Fern Bickel of Willow City while he was in the service andwhile he was on leave. They were married on March 24, 1945 at Minot. He started farming in Normal Township in McHenry County and later bought a farm in Ostby Township in Bottineau County. Howard was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Willow City. He also served on the Willow City School Board, the Rugby Farmers Union Elevator Board and the Ostby Township Board. He was also a member of the Lyle B. Rich American Legion Post 112 in Willow City. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fern of Bottineau; 2 sons, Robert (Dona) Anderson of Fair Oaks, CA and Dick (Susan) Anderson of Willow City; 3 daughters, Judy (Roger) Price of Studio City, CA, Linda (John) Loftin of Santa Monica, CA and Vicki (Joe) Brennan of Fair Oaks, CA; 11 grandchildren, Roger (Marie) Price of Las Vegas, NV, Holli (Ron) Smith of Encino, CA, Jason (Lindsey) Anderson of Canby, MN, Jordan Anderson of Willow City, Daren Hiltunen and Mandy and Meghan Loftin all of Santa Monica, CA, Jeff Loftin of Santa Barbara, CA, Jason Brennan of Newport Beach, CA, Kayla Brennan of Fair Oaks, CA, Jennifer Bateman of Wrightsberg, PA,and Ryan Gebert of Houston, TX; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Donald Anderson of Wahpeton and Manville Anderson of Norwood, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
