Summary: James D. Anderson, 69, a longtime Williston, ND resident, passed away February 12, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston. His funeral was celebrated February 16, 2010 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Christopher Raiford officiated and interment followed in the Riverview Cemetery, Williston. Jim Anderson, the son of Melvin and Ella J. (Larson) Anderson, was born on April 30, 1940 in Fargo, ND. He was baptized in Fargo and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Jim was raised on the family farm in Bonetraill Township, northwest of Williston. He graduated from Williston High School with the class of 1960. He attended Hanson’s Mechanical School in Fargo, ND. Jim served in the United States Army in the early 1960s and was stationed in Colorado. He was later honorably discharged. Upon returning to Williston, he farmed with his father. Jim worked at various jobs in Williston. He was employed at Everson Funeral Home for over twenty-five years, and then did maintenance work for Joseph’s, The Plainsman, Bethel Lutheran Home and the Airport International Inn. He was once married to Janice Lake. He enjoyed his drives in the country, checking on the local farmers and their crops and the old homestead. He was always optimistic about what the harvest would bring. He loved to follow the progress of each growing season from the seeding through harvest. He enjoyed riding the combine and photographing the harvest. Jim also loved spoiling his nephews, niece, great-nephew and great-nieces. Jim is survived by his brother, Allen Anderson of Williston; his sister, Judy and her husband Arvid Johnson of Williston and their children, Todd Johnson of Minot, Scott Johnson of rural Williston, and Sara and her husband, John Berg of rural Williston; great-nieces, Chelsea and Emma Berg; great-nephew, Cody Berg; James’ step-children, Kenny Lake and his wife, Kathy of Bismarck, DiAnn Merk and her husband, Karl, Dennis Lake and Sheila Hughes and her husband Joe, all of Williston, ND; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
