Summary: Jon L. Anderson, Huff, died February 24, 2008 at Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan. A Funeral Service was held Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with Deacon Dominic Ehrmantraut presiding. Burial was in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with military honorsprovided by the VFW Post 707 and American Legion Post 40. Jon was born December 30, 1932 in Bismarck, the son of Frederick L. and Durthea (Thysell) AnderHe enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Jon was united in marriage with Elizabeth Ehrmantraut on January 18, 1958 in Bismarck. In 1976 they moved to Huff, ND where Jon was proud to build their home with the help of family and friends. A career bricklayer, Jon worked for Perius Masonry and other contractors in and out of state. His brick work at the Bismarck VFW earned him a lifetime membership. Jon will be remembered fondly for his easygoing personality, generosity and willingness to help others. He had an incredible sense of humor and a particular talent for woodworking. Hunting and fishing were also sources of pleasure for Jon. He touched many lives and leaves an emptiness that only love and happy memories can fill. Left with many fond memories is his wife of 50 years, Betty, Huff, ND; four children, Deborah Anderson, Ft. Worth, TX, Jolene (Ron) Stewart, El Paso, TX, Paula Anderson, Chico, CA, and Keith Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, Brian Delman, Daniel Stewart, Kari Mathis, Olescia (Gary) Hanson,Angelica Anderson, and Jon Luc Anderson; five sisters, Jerroldine Fonk, Edmunds, WA, Rosemary Allen and Kathryn (Steve) LeBlanc, both of Bismarck, Sheila (Bill) Benning, Lower Lake, CA, and Niki (Don) Bickel, Great Falls, MT; two brothers, Bennett (Kris) Anderson, Seattle, WA and Russell (Julie) Anderson, Portland, OR. Preceding him in death were his parents; one granddaughter, Amanda Palmer; and one sister, Susan Kirk.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
