Summary: Marilyn Anderson, age 72 of Mohall, ND, formerly of Bottineau and Souris, ND, passed away June 15, 2010 in a Minot, ND hospital. Funeral services were held June 17, 2010 in the Lesje Lutheran Church of rural Souris, with Reverend Barb Haugerud officiating. Becky Hanson was the organist and Paul Fylling was the soloist. Casket bearers were Paul Sand, Mike LeMay, John Sivertson, Chuck Kveum, Lyle Lesmann and Jim Artz. Burial was in the church cemetery. Marilyn O. Anderson, a daughter of Melvin and Olga (Frantsvog) Latimer was born in Minot on January 11, 1938. She was reared near Voltaire, ND, and attended school in the area. Marilyn graduated from Velva High School. She moved to Everett, WA where she was the caretaker for her grandfather. Marilyn later returned to North Dakota. On September 14, 1969 she was married to Carl Anderson at Lesje Lutheran Church. After their marriage they farmed near Souris. Carl passed away June 17, 1989. She continued to live on the farm. Marilyn moved to Bottineau in 2002 where she lived until she moved to Westhope, ND in 2008. Most recently she was living in Mohall. She was a member of the Lesje Lutheran Church and the ladies’ organizations within the church. Marilyn was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Souris Community Club and served as a director for the Westhope Home of the Aged. She lived an active life. Marilyn enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren, cards and bingo. Her favorite pastime was quilting. She enjoyed being on the farm and hunting with Carl. Marilyn was very excited when she bagged her first deer. She is survived by sons, Gregory (Michelle) Anderson of Litchfield, MN and Michael (Becky) Anderson of Souris; grandchildren, Evan, Adam, and Nikki; and her special grandson, Aaron Cote; sister, Lou Jean Kelley of Velva, ND; brothers, Lowell (Ann) Latimer of Minot, Lyle (Lillian) Latimer of Hazen, ND, Robert Latimer of Austin, TX and a twin brother, Marlin (Karen) Latimer of Voltaire; brother-in-law, Hjalmer Anderson; sisters-in-law, Clara Szablewski and Anna Jensen; and many aunts, nieces nephews and cousins. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
