Summary: Margaret Anklam, 79, Watford City, formerly of Arnegard, went to be with her heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home, Watford City. What a glorious Easter gift! Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Alexander. Pastor Tim Swenson will officiate and interment will follow at Rawson Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City, and an hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Margaret Anklam was born July 25, 1929, in Grand Junction, Colo., the daughter of Forest and Nellie (Smith) Clem. Margaret graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1947. In October 1948, Margaret attended a special meeting at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, where Charles Dorn was the guest speaker. Margaret accepted Jesus to be her Lord and Saviour that night. She attended Mesa Junior College, graduating with a certificate in business administration in 1949. After graduation, she worked at Mesa Mutual Life Insurance Company in Grand Junction. It was here she met her best friend, Becky Williams. Together, they enjoyed many special times. She worked her way up in the company to eventually become the office manager. In 1954, she moved to Greenville, S.C., to attend Bob Jones University. A year later, she returned to work at Mesa Mutual. It was a regular day at the office, when a young man from North Dakota, named Adolph Anklam, entered her life. They began corresponding and on June 28, 1959, in Grand Junction at the First Presbyterian Church, were married by her brother, Wesley. After their honeymoon, Margaret and Adolph moved to Arnegard to the Anklam farm. She went from living the city life to learning how to be an efficient farmer's wife. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Alexander, on Sept. 13, 1959. She adapted well and became Ady's "right hand man." Two children were born to this union, Beverly Margaret in September 1960 and Brenda Elaine in December 1963. Ady had always wanted a son and in January 1970, David Adolph, became a part of their family. As the children grew and moved away, Margaret and Ady became even closer. They were very respected in their community and all the local folks would know if Ady was around, Margaret wasn't too far behind! They enjoyed the Heritage Club in Watford City and their bus tour to Branson, Mo., was always a fond memory for them. Margaret was very active in her community. She would attend all the local neighbor lady birthday parties, was a member of the Cherry Homemakers, the local Ladies Aide, Trinity Church Council, bible study, Trinity Sunday school teacher, Good Shepherd Home Auxiliary and secretary of the Arnegard Township. After Ady passed away in 2004, she became a resident of the Good Shepherd Home until her death. She kept up with the news of the community. She is survived by her children, Beverly (Bob) McCay, Bismarck, Brenda (Ray) Lakoduk, Minot, and David (Kim) Anklam, Bismarck; her brother, Wesley Clem, Sandy, Utah; five grandchildren, Chris Knudson, Ross Lakoduk, Levi Lakoduk, Colton Anklam and Samantha Anklam; and one great-grandchild, Andrew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; her parents, Forest and Nellie Clem; and one grandson, Jeffrey Knudson.
