Summary: Orlando Arnson, 89, a longtime resident of the Williston area, passed away Friday afternoon, March 14, 2008 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, ND. His funeral was celebrated Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2008 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Morris Kirchhof and the Rev. Christopher Raiford officiated. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery, Williston. Orlando Morris Arnson was born August 28, 1918 in Strandahl Township to Sam and Ingaborg (Smestuen) Arnson on the family farm. Orlando attended his schooling at the Country School (Hagbo School). He farmed and was a trucker in the Strandahl and Bonetraill Townships. He was united in marriage on October 23, 1944 to Irene Dahle Nelson in Plentywood, MT, where one daughter was born, Opal Arnson Holte. Together they raised four children Opal, Jerry, Warren, and Jane. Orlando and Irene lived on the farm until 1946 when they moved to Williston. He was an active member of Scandia Valley Lutheran Church and Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Orlando was also a member of the Williston Moose Lodge for thirty years. He loved taking care of his tiger lilies, peonies and his yard. He enjoyed keeping his car, pick-up, and vehicles spotless; that was very important to him. Orlando loved to tell stories, play practical jokes on people and listen to old time music in the evenings with Mom. Orlando entered Bethel Lutheran Home in 1999 and lived there until his passing. He is survived by his children, a daughter, Opal and her husband, Daryle Holte, of Tioga, ND, a son, Warren Nelson and his wife, Mary, of Brighton, CO; a son-in-law, DK Long of Williston, ND; eleven grandchildren, Charlene Johannenson, Lori Belisle, Kristie Lorenz, Jerry W. Nelson, Myles Long, Lisa Giese, Brent Bjella, Blaine Bjella, Jeff Holte, Connie Sass and Debbie Williams; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Orlando was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; a daughter, Jane Long; a son, Jerry elso; three brothers, Sidney Arnson, Alvin Arnson and O’neil Arnson; one sister, Opal Arnson.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
