Summary: Miles E."Ozzie" Asleson, 76, of Billings, MT, formerly of Williston, ND, passed away April 3, 2008, at the Diamond Willow Care Home in Billings. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery in Williston. Ozzie was born June 20, 1931, to Gilman and Agnes (Binde) Asleson in Williston, ND. He was raised and educated in Williston. He served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to February 1956. Upon his discharge from the Air Force he returned home to Williston. He attended North Dakota College of Science in Wahpeton, graduating in Drafting and Estimating. On April 20, 1958, he married Delores "Dee" Sliper in Rugby, ND. Miles worked in the lumber business in Grand Forks, ND; Watertown, S.D.; and Billings. He retired from United Building Centers in 1996.Ozzie enjoyed fishing, golfing, and his Thursday morning coffee group at Borders. He loved dogs, enjoyed sports and listening to big band music, and he loved good food. He took great pride in his children and his grandchildren. His genuine and kind human spirit enriched the lives of those he touched and his memory will live on with family and friends forever. Miles is survived by his wife of 50 years; their two children, Karen (Lee) Garaas of Grenora, ND, and Jeanie (Russ) Berndt of Watertown; five grandchildren, Lori (Jason) Hanson, Jason Knight, Jon and Kristin Walder, and Jordan Berndt; two greatgrandchildren, Megan and Dylan; sister Clarice Campbell of Lacey, WA; sister-in-law Luella Asleson of Williston; mother-in-law Syneva Sliper of Rugby; special family friend, Rhonda Heidner of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, Gilman and Agnes; brothers Gerald, Norman and Albin; and brother-in-law Homer Campbell preceded Miles in death.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
