Summary: Myrtle Atol, 91, a longtime Williston, ND resident, passed away September 23, 2009 at her home. Her funeral was celebrated September 30, 2009, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Christopher Raiford officiated and interment followed in Riverview Cemetery. Myrtle Storseth was born October 23, 1917 in Williston to Charles and Sophie (Hogenson) Storseth. She was raised, along with her two brothers and three sisters, in Hebron Township and attended Round Prairie School. As a young girl Myrtle enjoyed riding horse and life on the farm. She married George Atol on December 23, 1939 in Sidney, MT. They made their home in Williston all of their seventy married years. Myrtle recently lost George on March 22, 2009. During her life, Myrtle dedicated herself to God, her husband and son. She liked gardening, cooking and baking. She was an accomplished seamstress, did much crocheting and made many a quilt. She also found time to do ceramics. She was a helpmate to husband George’s extracurricular activities, the Car Club, and his car and automotive businesses. While attending church in the country at St. Paul Lutheran, she taught Sunday School and was involved with ladies aide. She continued her churchly dedication at Our Redeemer's Lutheran where she served on Mary circle, concerned herself with the needs of others, and was involved in prayer chains. She loved her grand babies, and like many a devoted grandmother, spoiled Anna, Eli, and Madison. Myrtle is survived by her son, Bill and Kimber Atol of Williston; three grandchildren, Anna Atol and Eli Atol, both of Huntington Beach, CA and Madison Atol of Williston; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; an infant son, Milo; three sisters, Regina Larson, Clara Horab and Birdie Zemliska; and two brothers, John and Art Storseth.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
