Summary: Benjamin “Bennie” Auch, Jr., 86, Mandan, died April 4, 2007 at Med center One Hospital in Bismarck. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Mandan United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mandan Union Cemetery. Benjamin was born on April 17, 1920 in New Leipzig, ND, the son of Andrew and Fredricka (Zimmerman) Auch. On May 18, 1945, he was joined in marriage to Anna J. Seidler in Elgin, ND. Bennie and Anna frmed north of New Leipzig until 1961, when they moved to Wing, ND, to continue farming. They moved to Mandan in 1969. Bennie was employed by North Dakota Concrete for many years, retiring in 1985. While he was there, he developed various techniques for concrete repair and finish. When itcame to his concrete work, Bennie was meticulous and patient, always ensuring that every project was done just right. Bennie stayed busy with many hobbies. He treasured any time that could be spent on the farm helping his sons drive tractor. He also enjoyed driving horse and buggy. Bennie took great pride in gardening and raised beautiful apple and plum trees. He had a passion for watching birds and liked making birdhouses—he tried the best he could to keep the squirrels away! Bennie was known for his organized shop. He always had it neat and in order. For rest and relaxation, Bennie cherished any time that could be spent at the lake fishing. Bennie’s gentle and generous nature will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Anna; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty (Fred) Ermey of Zilla, WA; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Dennis (Fran) of Mandan, Ruben (Pat) of Wishek, Garrie (Karen) of Mandan, David of Mandan and Gene (Tracy) of Plymouth, WI; twenty-five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one sister, Verna Iszler of Oregon City, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew andFredericka; one grandson, Rodney Auch; two great grandsons, Cole and Wyatt Dreiske; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lena Auch, Ida (Fred) Wiedmer, Hilda (Gotlieb) Hintz and Emil Iszler and two brothers, Art and August.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
