Summary: Isabell Aune, 76, Bismarck, was welcomed into the gates of heaven by God, her creator, on Thursday, January 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services were held Monday, January 28 at Church of Corpus Christi with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Isabell was born on June 14, 1931, in Shields, ND, the daughter of John and Rose (Harsche) Blotsky. She graduated from Selfridge High School in 1949, after which her family moved to McIntosh, SD, where her mother married Conrad Mattern. Here she worked at the Carson County Courthouse with the Federal Crop Insurance Program from 1949 1953. Isabell moved to Bismarck in 1953, where she worked at the ND State Auditors Office from 1953 1961. She married Duane Aune at Church of St. Mary on October 10, 1960. In 1961, Isabell became a housewife to stay at home and care for her family. She returned to work outside her home once her children were older, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home as the Activity Department Assistant from 1976 1978. She then returned to work for the State at the ND State Capitol Secretary of States Office from 1978 1989. Isabell’s life revolved around her family. She was known for her home cooked meals, hospitality, and welcoming hugs for all visitors. She was comfortable spending time in the quiet surrounding of God’s creation. She enjoyed spending time at the family lake home feeding the birds and watching wildlife. She also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Over the years, Isabell ejoyed gardening and canning vegetables. Isabell was a charter member of Church of Corpus Christi. She was involved in numerous church activities over the years, including St. Rita’s Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, Parish Council Committee Member, CCD Program Volunteer, and the Meals-on-Wheels Program Volunteer. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Isabell will be deeply missed by family and friends. Her legacy of love, hospitality, and faith will continue through her family and friends. The family thanks all those who sent cards, phone calls, food and prayers during her illness. Your thoughtfulness and caring were comforting during these past difficult months. A special thank you to Medcenter One Hospice for the outstanding care and devotion to Isabell and her family. Isabell is survived by her husband of 47 years, Duane of Bismarck; her daughters, Kathleen (Tim) Wold of Nevis, MN, and Linda (Kenyon) Opp of Bismarck, ND; her son, Mark Aune of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren, Christopher Strehlow of Park Rapids, MN, Sarah Strehlow of Nevis, MN, Casey Wold of Nevis, MN, and Kaila Opp of Bismarck, ND; her sister, Marie Harper of Bismarck, ND; and her many nieces and nephews. Isabell was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Joseph Blotsky.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
