Summary: Elizabeth (Betty) Axtman, 87, Bismarck passed away June 12, 2007 at St. Vincent’s Care Center. Services were held Saturday, June 16 at Church of St. Anne with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Betty was born November 1, 1919, in Pierce County, ND, the daughter of Mathias and Magdalena (Senger) Wangler. She married Rudy Axtman on November 3, 1937 at St. Anslems Catholic Church in Fulda, ND. Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. Anslems. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Balta from 1937 1969, a choir member and a lifetime member and past president of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Bismarck from 1969 until present and a member of the Catholic Daughter’s Association. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, baking buns, caramel rolls and kuchen, gardening, sewing, crafts, painting, quilting, traveling, singing, dancing, and playing cards and dice. Betty is survived by her children, Janice (Gerry) Nohr of Bothell, WA, Darold (Joan) Axtman of Redwood City, CA, Bernetta (Alfred) Haman of Bismarck, Larry Axtman (Pat Becker) of Bismarck, Laverne (Roger) Duchscher of Rugby, Jerry (Shirlene) Axtman of Bismarck, Wayne (Myra) Axtman of Hazen, Vernon Axtman (Susan Bednarz) of Bismarck, Karen (Mark) Hagel of Bismarck, Denise (Richard) Iliff of Bismarck, Curtis (Cheryl) Axtman of Beulah, and Keith (Pam) Axtman of Minot; 26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; her parents; her brothers, Mathias, Peter, Fred, John and Pius and her sisters, Juliana, Juliana II, Magdalena, Anna and Rosalie.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
