Summary: Anna Bachler, 100, formerly of Mandan, passed away April 7, 2007 at Marion Manor Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, Father Patrick Schumacher as celebrant, with burial at Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Anna Seeberger was born on May 19, 1906 in Glen Ullin, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Lang) Seeberger. As a young girl, Anna and her five siblings lived on a farm in Grant County, ND. In 1922, the Seeberger family moved to rural Glen Ullin where Anna resided until 1927. On February 22, 1927 Anna and John Bachler were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. After their marriage they farmed northeast of Carson. In 1938, they moved to the Drashil farm, eight miles southwest of Almont, where they farmed and ranched for many years. Together, Anna and John had eleven children. In 1964, they retired from the farm and moved to Mandan. In November of 1964, John passed away. Anna was a woman of independence, determination and boundless energy combined with a positive attitude. Her love of nature, especially her beautiful flower garden was a way of expressing her appreciation of nature. At the young age of 95 Anna was so proud to be playing in the Golden Girls Kitchen Band. When going to play an engagement at various care centers she would comment, “ We are going out to play for the old people.” A spirit of generosity of her time as an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, Catholic Daughters, Rosary Society, Christian Mothers Sacred Heart Society and Bible Study Groups was appreciated. Her dedication to these groups was a priority she put before other ocial and family events. Attendance at daily Mass and prayer were a source of spiritual comfort for Anna. Many hours of volunteering at St. Alexius Hospital was a highlight in her busy schedule. Anna also loved quilting, embroidering, and playing cards, especially 6 hand pinochle. To pass the many hours of loneliness after her husband John passed away, Anna would do quilting and embroidering to keep her hands and mind occupied. She will hold a special place in the hearts of her 54 grandchildren who each received a handmade quilt for their high school graduation. Anna’s gentle nature and beautiful memories will forever be held dear by her ten children, Caroline (Ed) Barth of Glen Ullin, Edward (Viola) Bachler of Almont, Ernest (Alice) Bachler of White Sulpher Springs, MT, Lucille Bachler of Modesto, CA, Anna Marie (Tony) Steckler of Elgin, ND, Tony (Cecelia) Bachler of Seattle, WA, Marlin (Virginia) Bachler of Seattle, WA, Maxine (Jim) Cook of Ivins, UT, John (Jean) of Redmond, WA and Linda (Jim) Geiger of Mandan; her daughterin-law, Renata Bachler of Cincinnati, OH, 54 grandchildren, 115 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bachler; her parents, Peter and Anna Seeberger; one son, Bob Bachler, who died in 1998; one son-in-law, Frank Steckler; three sisters, Frances Seeberger, Elizabeth Weinberger Kokkler and Kathryn Doll; two brothers, Peter Seeberger, Jr. and Nick Seeberger; two grandchildren, JoAnne Bachler and David Barth; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Roehrich.
