Summary: Hester Bailey, 96, Wing, ND died August 10, 2010, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND. Services were held August 14, 2010, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with Rev. Chris Alexander officiating. Burial was held in Wing Cemetery, Wing. Hester was born on a small farm near Hatfield, MO, on July 26, 1914, the daughter of Ira and Mary (Tate) Bailey. The family moved to Regan, ND, on January 1, 1916. She completed her elementary education at Canfield Consolidated School and attended high school for two years. As a young girl, she loved to ride horse and tend to the animals on the farm. She had a soft spot in her heart for all of her pets. Hester and Humphrey “Guy” were married on May 24, 1938, in Bellevue, KY. The newlyweds moved to a farm nine miles northwest of Wing, ND, where they lived for 45 years. Their son, Harold Loyd, was born on November 13, 1940. Hester and Guy lived on their farm until September 1983, when they moved into town for retirement. Guy passed away on February 14, 1989. Hester enjoyed the farm life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and making dolls. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. She spent most of her time in town at the café in Wing, chatting and helping out whenever she could. Hester lived in Wing until September 2006, when she moved at the age of 92 into Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. Hester is survived by her son, Harold (Iris) Bailey, Wing; two granddaughters, Shelly (Clint) Kohler, Mandan, ND, and Stef (Ryan) Aday, Ortonville, MN; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Aday; one sisterin-law; and many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, three sisters; and an infant grandson.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
