Summary: Ronald A. Baker, 49, Bismarck, formerly of New Town and Minot, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his home, of natural causes. Services were held Monday, March 21, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Bismarck, the Rev. Donna Dohrmann officiated, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Ron was born February 14, 1956 in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Lyle and Viola “Vi” (Nelson) Baker. He was raised and educated in Minot, where he graduated from Minot High School in 1975. After high school, Ron moved to Bismarck, where he servedas Staff Assistant for the North Dakota State Legislature and was also employed by the United Tribes Technical College. He moved to New Town and was employed by Aubol’s, Inc. and the City of New Town. In 2002 Ron moved back to Bismarck and was employed by Prairie Public Broadcasting at Dakota Skies Bingo. Ron was a member of the New Town Park Board and Kiwanis Club of New Town. He received the George Hixson award for community service, one of the Kiwanis’s highest honors. He was also active in the Democratic, NPL party. Ron enjoyed traveling, especially to off-the-beaten-path locales of North Dakota, making annual visits to the Medora Musical, and the Concordia College Christmas concert. He was a passionate defender of the environment and had a special love for animals, especially Poke and Oreo, his two cats. Ron was very kind and compassionate and has touched many hearts throughout his lifetime. Ron is survived by his mother, Viola, Baker, Minot, ND and Mesa, AZ; his sister, Lorie (Ron) Berndt, Bismarck, ND; nephews, Ethan and Calvin Krueger, Bismarck, ND; good friend, Clare Aubol, New Town, ND; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Baker.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
