Summary: David Owen Walters, 80, Bismarck, ND, passed away October 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. Services were held October 13, 2017, at The Sanctuary, Bismarck. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. David was born August 14, 1937, in Buchanan, MI, to Ernest and Carrie Walters and graduated from Buchanan High School. He married Atha Finch on August 4, 1956, and they raised four daughters. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, pastor, leader, mentor, and friend. He was a church planter that had a deep love for God, his wife, children, family, friends, and the Apostolic faith. Never one to consider anyone a stranger or beneath his friendship, he loved to help people and to witness about the saving and life transforming power of God. David is survived by his wife, Atha; his children, Paula (Mike) Woods, Patty (Mark) Soberg, Phyllis (Rick) Kiemele, and Pam (Jon) Hussey; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Carl) Thurston; and brother, Paul (Esther) Walters. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Carrie Walters; sisters, Emily Walters and Janiece (Marvin) Arnold; and brother, Charles Russell (Ann) Walters.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
