Summary: Sarah Ruth (Benson) Cheshire, 41, Fergus Falls, MN, died December 6, 2017. A memorial service was held December 13, 2017, at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Matt Pederson. Sarah’s aunt, Shelia Bertsch was the pianist and Pete Erickson and Kyle Debertin were the guitarists. Camp Metigoshe Staff Alumni provided special music. Honorary casket bearers were all of Sarah’s cousins. Sarah Ruth Benson, daughter of Asmundur Swain Benson and Kathleen Teresa (Loveland) Benson, was born April 26, 1976, in Grand Forks, ND. She attended Bottineau High School, graduating in 1994. She then attended NDSU-BB, earning an associate of science degree, at Minot State University, earning a bachelor of science-elementary and special education degree, and at the UND School of Law, earning a juris doctor in 2002. After graduating law school, Sarah worked for the Minnesota Judicial Branch for 10 years and joined the Karkela, Hunt & Cheshire Law Firm in 2013. Sarah married Ryan Robert Cheshire September 20, 2003, at the Lakeside Chapel in Bottineau, ND. She is survived by her three children, Reagan, Rowan and Alexander Cheshire, Fergus Falls, MN; her parents, Swain and Kathy Benson, Bottineau; her siblings, Swain (Leah) Benson, Bottineau, Brooke Benson, Blaine, MN, and Laura Benson, Boston, MA; grandmother, E. Fay Benson, Bottineau; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and close companion, Nathan Kuhn, Fergus Falls. Sarah was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Ruth Loveland; grandfather, A. S. Benson; and Uncle Kenneth Loveland. Sarah’s trademark smile lives on through her three beautiful children. Her generosity and compassion are reflected through the incredible communities in which she lived and worked, and in her beloved friends and family. Her spirit will be remembered in the memories we all share and hold dear in our hearts. Sarah graced this world with a vigor and vitality that will never be forgotten. Her inextinguishable light is a beacon to living justly and loving unconditionally.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
