Summary: Shirley Mary Christmann, 65, Fargo, ND, died December 31, 2017, at her residence with her family by her side. Mass of Christian burial was January 4, 2018, at Steele, ND, with Rev. Jerome Hunkler officiating. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Steele. Shirley Binstock was born August 15, 1952, in Dickinson, ND, the daughter of Anton and Mildred (Bezdicek) Binstock. She grew up and attended school, grades 1-5, in Dickinson, ND, moved to Seattle, WA for grades 6-8 and then moved to Steele, and attended grades 9-12, where she graduated from high school in 1971. She married Lester Lee Christmann September 15, 1973, in Steele. They lived in Fargo for a short time before moving to Jamestown, ND, in 1974 where they resided and raised their family for 28 years. While living in Jamestown Shirley lived on a 10-acre hobby farm where she was a homemaker, gardener, and CNA at Central Valley Nursing Home for several years. She attended Valley City State University and earned her two-year business administration degree. Shirley and Lester moved to Park Rapids, MN, in 2001, where Shirley was employed with Essentia Health as a medical transcriptionist. Shirley moved to Horace, ND, to be closer to her children after Lester’s death in 2011. From there she moved to Fargo and retired in her final home in 2013. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, yard work, gardening, hunting, fishing, scrapbooking and shopping. She also enjoyed going to the casino with family, watching movies, playing scrabble and pinochle. Shirley is survived by her three children, Tammy (Matthew) Palluck, Davenport, ND, Tobey (Katie) Christmann, Fargo, and Tracy (Matthew) McGlynn, Mentor, MN; six grandchildren, Jared, Jacob, Isaac, Sophia, Megan and Amy; two brothers, Gordon (Laverne) Binstock, McKenzie, ND, and Terry (Kay) Binstock, Fargo; one sister, Gladys Zastoupil, Dickinson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by husband Lester; her parents; and brothers, Raymond and Laudie Binstock.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
