Summary: Alice Feland, 91, Bismarck, ND, died December 15, 2017. Mass of Christian burial was held December 21, 2017, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Alice Frappier was born August 7, 1926, the daughter of Paul and Amy (Briss) Frappier in Kensal, ND. She attended school and graduated from McHenry, ND. She attended nurses training in Devils Lake, ND, and then moved to Fort Leavenworth, KS, to work. She later moved to Devils Lake, ND, where she worked at Mercy Hospital. Alice met Stanley Feland and they were married December 29, 1948, in McHenry. They moved to Westhope, ND, where they had four children. In 1961 the family moved to Appleton, MN; and in 1962 they moved to Grand Forks, ND, purchasing the Lucky Inn Motel, starting their career in hospitality. In 1971 they moved to Enderlin, ND, and purchased Stan’s Package Store. In 1973 they moved to Bismarck and purchased the Fleck House Motel which Alice and her family ran until selling it in 1995. Alice enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time in her garden and home, and in her later years, watching sports on TV. She was an avid sports fan, her favorite teams being the NDSU Bison, Minnesota Twins, and the Minnesota Vikings. Alice is survived by her sons, Bernie (Sue), Nome, ND, Daniel (Karen), and James, both of Bismarck; her daughter, Debbie (Dave) Meier, Parker, CO; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Clarence (Marge) Frappier, McHenry; and many nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents; her brothers, Paul Jr., Richard, and Alfred; and her sister, Evelyn.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
