Summary: City Patrolman Keith Allen Braddock Date of Death: 03/20/1996 Watford City Police Department Age at Death: 39 At approximately 5:35 p.m. on the afternoon of March 20, 1996, Patrolman Keith Braddock, a sixteen and one-half year veteran of the Watford City Police Department, responded to a disturbance call at the local American Legion Club. When Officer Braddock entered the door he was confronted by a man with two rifles. After a short exchange of words, the subject fired, striking the officer. The officer drew his weapon and returned fire, striking the subject one time in the leg. Subject fired three to four rounds, striking the officer in the chest, killing him instantly. Two elderly men were then held hostage inside the club for nine hours. Officer Braddock leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mary Braddock, one son, Harry Braddock and two daughters, Becky Braddock and Lisa Braddock all of Watford City and a multitude of family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers. Robert Mead, Jr., a Grassy Butte rancher, was found guilty of class AA murder, felonious restraint, and terrorizing. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole
