Summary: Sheriff Herbert E. Parmeter Date of Death: September 6, 1974 Sargent County, Forman, North Dakota Age at Death: 65 Sheriff Herbert Parmeter and a deputy had apprehended a man who had been firing shots at the Melroe Equipment Plant in Gwinner, North Dakota. The suspect had been disarmed and was transported to Forman, North Dakota, to be interviewed. During the interview, Sheriff Parmeter suffered a fatal heart attack. Sheriff Parmeter had served as sheriff for two years, was married and the father of two children. Herbert E. Parmeter Born July 5, 1908 Milnor, North Dakota Departed this life September 6, 1974 Forman, North Dakota Memorial services were held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Cogswell, North Dakota, September 9, 1974 with Father Kenneth Gallagher officiating. Final resting place was in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Cogswell, North Dakota.
