Summary: Lion Allen Dockter is a retired educator of 39 years, having the distinction of teaching in a one-room country school, high school and on the college level his last 31 years. Lion Allen has been a member of the Capital City Lions for the past 32 years, holding all offices of the club except secretary-treasurer and Lion tamer. His involvement in his local club includes being chairman and co-chairman of the Lions All-Star Basketball in addition to the many service projects of the club. His club honored him with Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowships. On the district level, he has served as zone chairman, deputy district governor, vice-governor, and District Governor for two terms. He served Multiple District 5 as Council Chairman and MD5 Youth Outreach Chairperson for two years. Well-known on the state and district levels, Lion Allen has attended 20 District and State Conventions in North Dakota, 17 Multiple Conventions, six International Conventions, 11 State and District Conventions in South Dakota and Saskatchewan and one USA/Canada Forum. Lion Allen served as campaign manager for International Director Bruce Schwartz. In addition to his involvement in Lions, he served as president of the North Dakota Vocation Association, North Dakota Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, Bismarck State College Faculty Senate, and Faith Lutheran Church. He has sung in the church choir for over 40 years. Lion Allen was the State Coordinator for six years for the AARP Driver Safety Program and teaches Defensive Driver Safety classes. He has officiated football at the high school and college level for 30 years and was chosen North Dakota Football Official of the Year in 2000 and was inducted into the North Dakota Officials Hall of Fame in 2004. Awards received include Outstanding Youth Agriculture Teacher, Post-Secondary Agriculture Teacher of the Year, and was the recipient of the Crystal Apple Award as the outstanding higher education educator in the Bismarck-Mandan area. He also has received two Honorary Chapter Farmer FFA Degrees, FFA Distinguished Served Award and the ND Honorary State Farmer FFA Degree. Lion Allen and his wife, Lion Diane, have been married since 1959. They have three children and six grandchildren.

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
