Summary: Lion Frydenlund joined the Edgeley Lions Club in 1949. He served the club in every office over the years, including two separate terms as president, once in 1962-63 and again in 1981-82. Lion Earl served as Zone Chairman, District Governor, several years as Extension Chairman, and chartered six clubs in his year as District Governor, 1964-65. He also served as program chairman for Edgeley’s 40th, 50th, 55th, and 60th anniversaries. In addition, he held a Master Key Award, served on the campaign committee for a candidate for International 3rd Vice-President, was on the campaign committee for two candidates for International Director and attended four International Conventions. Lion Earl did not miss a District Convention in 27 years and had 36 years of perfect attendance in the Edgeley Lions Club. Lion Frydenlund served his community in many other capacities as well. He served on his church board, was a volunteer fireman for over 30 years, on the city council for eight years, and many years as president of the North Dakota Amateur Softball Association. He also served on the National Softball Board as the player representative from North Dakota. He was selected to the North Dakota Softball Hall of Fame.

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
