Summary: Jim became a charter member of the Minot Magic City Lions in 1969, and moved through Club offices, becoming president for the 1974-1975 year. His district involvement began as Deputy District Governor, followed by District Governor 5NW in 1976-1977. Since that time, he was continuously involved at both District and MD5 levels. He was Youth Exchange Chairman, served as president for district governor-elect schools, new member orientations, new officer training, and was appointed to the Train-the-Trainer program for a two-year period. He has served as speaker, master of ceremonies, and presenter at many events. Jim was actively involved in extension activities. His efforts led to the formation of the Hooterville and Mohall Lions Clubs. When District 5NC, a new district, was formed, PDG Jim served terms as MD5 Youth Coordinator, Train the Trainer, MD5 Eye Bank Committee, Director of the North Dakota Lions Foundation and President of the ND PDG Association. He has attended most state and MDS Conventions and two International Conventions. Jim has had multiple years of service on district Cabinets. Jim received many awards, including the International President’s Medal, two International Presidents’ Certificates of Appreciation, 100% District Governor, MD5 Senior Counselor, two Extension Awards, 100% Club President and decades of perfect attendance. Jim grew up in the Bisbee area where he began a masonry construction and aerial spraying business. This was followed by a move to Minot and a start of new business enterprise. Jim and his wife, Areta, were involved in many activities in the Minot area.

Title: SHSND Foundation - Lions International Hall of Fame
Date:

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
