Summary: Lion Walter Klick of Hebron was a charter member of the Hebron Lions Club when it was formed in 1928. When he was named to the North Dakota Lions Hall of Fame in 1983 he had been a member for 55 years. He was president of the Hebron Lions in 1934-1935 and was a very active Lion, not only in his club but also in the district and multiple district. The Hebron Lions endorsed him as a district governor candidate in 1951-1952, and he was elected to that post for the year 1952-53. At that time, the District was 5N, and it included all the state of North Dakota. He had to travel many miles to complete his visitations to all the clubs in the state. At the close of the year he was awarded the 100% District Governor award, and was also awarded the prestigious title of International Counsellor. In 1978 Klick helped make the necessary arrangements for the joint observance of the 50th anniversary of the Glen Ullin, New Salem, and Hebron Lions Clubs. He secured the attendance of International Lions President Ralph A. Lynam, who was the first International President to visit North Dakota. Lion Art Link, plus many District Governors and Past District Governors from North Dakota, South Dakota, and Saskatchewan attended this festive occasion. After his term as District Governor, he remained active for over twenty years, for which he received a Senior Councilor award. Lion Walter attended nearly all of the district conventions in the Multiple District (North Dakota, South Dakota, and Saskatchewan). He and his wife Irene, in addition, found time to travel to numerous anniversary and charter night celebrations in the area. According to the Hebron Lions Club, whenever the going got tough or spirit was down in the club, the members looked to Lion Walter to bring them back to the goals and ideals of Lionism. His advice and leadership as a member of the club in the early years was immeasurable to its success. Although he passed away a number of years ago, the Hebron Lions Club has lived on, and in October of 2017 it celebrated its 89th year.

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
