Summary: Lion Lindy Lein joined the Wing Lions in April of 1952 and maintained perfect attendance in that club for 42 years. He transferred his membership to the North Star Lions of Bismarck in 1994, and continued his faithful attendance with the new club. During his 42 years as a Wing Lion, Lindy filled many offices and chairmanships in his club, and was also district cabinet secretary in 1959- 60, zone chairman in 1964-65, and District Governor in 1966-67. He was elected Council Chairman and served in the MD5 position from 1967 to 1968. During his years in Wing, Lion Lindy and his wife Marlys owned and operated the Wing Locker Plant, and he served as the mayor of Wing from 1962-1977. As mayor, he was instrumental in the paving of the streets, installing water and sewer, and purchasing a new fire truck and ambulance for that community. Even though he moved to Bismarck in 1977, he maintained his membership in the Wing Lions until 1994, when he became a North Star Lion. After joining their club, he served on the board of directors and was their enthusiastic Tail-Twister for several years. In 2003 the North Star Lions presented him with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. International President Dr. Tae-Sup Lee honored Lion Lindy with the International President’s Award in 2004. Lindy Lein attended seventeen State Conventions, 25 Multiple District Conventions, and three International Conventions. Lion Lindy was a World War II veteran and was active in the VFW for 57 years. For over fifty years he was a member of the 40 et 8, which hosts a spaghetti feed, with the proceeds going to help finance the education of student nurses. They have raised $4,000 per year for their schooling. Lindy is also a life member of the Elks, the Shrine, and the Eagles. While in Wing, Lindy and Marlys were members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where Lindy taught Sunday School for 10 years and served on the church board for 4 years. They were members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Lion Lindy and his wife Marlys celebrated 57 years of marriage in 2005. They had three children: Nancy of Denver, CO, Barbara of Carthage, NY, and a son Dale, who lives Bismarck.

Title: SHSND Foundation - Lions International Hall of Fame

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
