Summary: Robert S. Littlefield was born in Moorhead, MN in 1952. He graduated from Fargo North High School in 1970, and received his teaching degree in English, Speech, and Theatre from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1974. That fall, he began his teaching career at Barnesville Public Schools in Minnesota. He joined the North Dakota State University teaching staff in 1979, and in 1983, completed his doctorate at the University of Minnesota. Over his 38 years at NDSU, he has filled several administrative and leadership roles, and is currently a professor in the communication department. He recently was named the future director of the Nicholson School of Communication at the University of Central Florida and will begin his duties in August 2016. In 1984, PDG Frederick G. Walsh introduced Littlefield to Lionism. He served two terms as president of the Fargo Lions (1990-91; 2005-06). Robert’s feelings for his club and for those with whom he has served run deep. His enthusiasm and positive outlook have helped motivate his fellow Lions to exceed their club goals, whether through fundraising or service projects. He has held many offices within the association, including District Campus Club Chairperson, District Governor, Region Chairperson, Council Chairperson, LCIF District Coordinator, Multiple District Convention Chairperson, and is a Certified Guiding Lion. In addition, he is a Past President of the North Dakota Past District Governors’ Association. He was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 97th International Convention held in Toronto, Canada, in July 2014. At the conclusion of his two-year term, he began serving a three-year term as a trustee on the Lions Clubs International Foundation Board of Directors. In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the District Governor Excellence Award, International Leadership Award, the Membership Advancement Key Award and an International President’s Award, to name a few. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. Lion Robert and his wife, Lion Kathy, have been married since 1974 and have two grown children: a married daughter, Lindsay (Thomas Allen), who is an independent consultant currently working for the Stephen Group; and a son, Brady, who is a vicepresident with Rubenstein Communication, Inc. in New York City. They have two grandsons, Emmett and Owen Allen.

Title: SHSND Foundation - Lions International Hall of Fame
Date:

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
