Summary: Lion Timothy A. Thueson entered Lionism in the fall of 1979 by accepting an invitation to become a member of the McClusky Lions Club from his sponsor, Lion Roger Olson, elementary principal. Lion Tim was elected to the McClusky Lions Club board of directors in the spring of 1980. He served in almost all offices of the club and then became zone chairman and was active in that zone for many years. He was voted Lion of the Year at McClusky. Tim taught fourth grade for 20 years for the McClusky Public School District, as well as high school speech coach for eleven years and play director for 18 years. He, his wife Lynell, and their son, Mark, moved to Bismarck in 1997. Tim transferred his membership to the North Star Lions Club of Bismarck in 1998, where he served as the club’s president after the vice presidencies. Lion Tim was chairperson for “Operation Blanket Run” and “Operation Furniture Run” which provided blankets to a women’s shelter and furniture to people in need in the Cannonball area. He chaired the North Star’s annual turkey leg project in 2010. Lion Tim served as district governor in 2000-2001. He was elected to serve on the Multiple District Council of Governors in 2001-2002 as the North Dakota representative where he chaired the MD 5 Constitution and By-Laws Committee and the Financial Committee. Lion Tim served as the MD 5 Lions Opportunity for Youth chairperson from 2002-2008, and is now serving in that position again. Over the years he has sponsored fifteen new Lions. Lion Tim has served on the North Dakota Lions Eye Bank board of directors and served as president as well. He also was elected to the Lions Foundation of North Dakota board of directors and became board president. He was appointed as a coordinator for Campaign Sight First II from 2005-2008. At the district level, Lion Tim has also served as LCIF Chairperson, Region Chairperson and Pin Chairman. Lion Tim has attended numerous state and MD5 conventions, and five international conventions. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, recipient of the 100% District Governor Award and fourInternational President’s Certificates of Appreciation, and a Fifteen-Member Key from LCI. Lion Tim and Lynell have also hosted campers to the MD 5 Youth Camp. Lion Tim has been an educator since 1979 and judges speech competitions around the state. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mayville State Universitym and a Master of Science degree in Education from Minot State University. He has continuing education course work from University of Mary-Bismarck. Lion Tim and his wife, Lion Lynell, have been married since 1978 and have one son, Mark. In his spare time, he enjoys auction sales, antique cars, collecting antique pocket watches, wind-up phonographs and 78 RPM records, singing, judging speech competitions, and attending theatrical productions.

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
