Summary: Lion Wiklund was an active, caring, and effective member of Lionism for more than half a century. Lion Arvid became a Lion in 1934 when he was a charter member of the New England Lions Club. In 1937, he moved to Bismarck where he became a member of the Bismarck Lions Club. Lion Arvid served as director, vice president, and president of the Bismarck Lions. In 1942, he became secretary-treasurer of the Multiple District that included North Dakota, South Dakota, and Saskatchewan, a post he held for ten years. In 1951, he was elected District Governor and was later named as an International Counselor. Chairman of two District Conventions in Bismarck, Lion Arvid himself attended almost every District Convention and many International Conventions during the time he was active in Lionism. He was also instrumental in bringing 31 new members into the Bismarck club. In addition to his service to Lionism, Lion Wiklund had been active in many community activities. He served as chairman of the Burleigh County Red Cross for many years, was elected to the Bismarck Park Board, was Exalted Ruler of the Elks in 1950, and was past president of the Association of Retarded People. In 1984 Lion Wiklund was also selected to the Athletic Hall of Fame at Dickinson State College.

Title: SHSND Foundation - Lions International Hall of Fame
Date:

Summary: The Hall of Fame award is the most prestigious honor for Lions at the state level. The first hall of Fame awards were given in 1982. Although this award has been a function of the Past District Governors Association, a recipient does not have to be a PDG to qualify but can be any Lion who has shown considerable dedication over a period of years. Nominees are judged by their activities on behalf of their home club, his or her district projects, North Dakota Lions programs, as well as those Multiple District 5 and Lions Clubs International. The committee also takes note of other community involvement outside of Lions. It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition.
