Summary: Marjorie R. Potter, co-publisher of the Cass County Reporter from 1963 until 1993, was an untiring worker who also knew how to have fun, and sometimes she would find time to combine the two. She will be remembered as a fighter for the things she believed were right. Her opinions were strong and influential and her reporting was fair and accurate. She also possessed an intense community pride and was a strong advocate for small communities all over North Dakota, and her undying loyalty to her home community, Casselton, and all of rural Cass County is well documented. She loved her work, and was extremely proud to be given the opportunity to serve as the first woman president of the North Dakota Newspaper Association. She also served as president of the North Dakota Press Women and the North Dakota Professional Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, and was the recipient of numerous state and national writing awards. She knew what community journalism was supposed to be and practiced it well, and she is an example to weekly editors and publishers everywhere. She was the fourth woman selected to the North Dakota Newspaper Hall of Fame with her induction coming in 1996. She died June 19, 1993.
