Summary: Walter C. Taylor (1870-1929) was born in Alexandria, Minn., and learned the printing trade there at the Alexandria Post. He came to North Dakota in the early 1890s and published a frontier weekly, the Towner News and Stockman, for four years until 1895. From Towner, he went to LaMoure as part owner, and later sole owner and publisher, of the LaMoure Chronicle. Some of his writings, called Taylorgrams, were published in many newspapers. Although he preferred living and working with his small town neighbors, Taylor spent part of his time in Bismarck as Commissioner of Insurance and Commissioner of Game and Fish. He also served the North Dakota Press Association as a member of the executive council and as president.
