Summary: In 1959 Ray David accepted a position with the Williston Chamber of Commerce. That position led Ray to a 16-year career in the radio broadcast industry with KEYZ in Williston. There he helped develop the Upper Missouri Valley Fair Association, was a charter member of the M-T Saddle Club and became an honorary colonel in the 6th Infantry of Ft. Buford. In 1975 he moved to Dickinson to start his own radio station. KLTC, Keep Loving Thy Country, signed on the air July 4, 1978. Later he and his business partners added two more stations, KRRB-FM and KCAD-FM. His zeal for promotion continued in southwestern North Dakota where he orchestrated trail rides, started the KLTC Oil Expo, and was a staunch supporter of Roughrider Days. His involvement with the National Association of Broadcasters earned him a seat on the board of directors for Small Market Radio. Ray loved his work and the many people that were part of his life. The title of his autobiography written for future generations of his family summed up those feelings very well, “It Was a Good Life.”
