Summary: Marv Bossart anchored for the ABC affiliate WDAY in Fargo, commencing his vocation in 1958 still in his early twenties. He was responsible for WDAY’s 6:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. newscasts in 1963, discontinuing his work only to retire in 2000. This span of over four decades dedicated to broadcasting made Marv a distinguished name for North Dakotans and Minnesotans alike. WDAY reporter, Kevin Wallevand told Fargo-Moorhead’s The Forum that, “He had a great heart and he really empathized with people who were affected by our news.” Likewise, William Marcil, Sr., chairman of The Forum, noted that “Marv was a world-class newscaster that we were lucky to have on our air for 42 years. His spirit will live with all that saw him on TV or ran into him at the grocery store.” On Tuesday, April 23, 2013, Marv passed away after losing his long-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 79 years old.
