Summary: Caroline passed away, Sunday, March 19, 2023, in Dickinson, ND. A Liturgy of the Word for Caroline Hecker, 91, of Dickinson, was at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. She was born on May 5, 1931 to Jack and Rose (Obrigewitch) Schaff. She attended Belfield Public School. Caroline married Philip Hecker on August 30, 1949. She worked numerous jobs while living in the Belfield area. As a very supportive wife, Caroline traveled to many different states while Philip was employed with the National Park Service. They started out in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, and began moving to many other states. Their journey continued on to Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area in Montana, Grand Canyon in Arizona, Lyndon B Johnson Ranch in Texas, Chaco Culture National Park in New Mexico before making their home in Kingman, Arizona. In 2011, she made her home at Edgewood Assisted Living in Dickinson, ND. She resided there until moving to St. Benedict’s Nursing Home in January. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeanne) Hecker of Dickinson, Michelle Kessel of Dickinson, Judy (David) Silbernagel of Strasburg, Connie (Jim) Stephens of Gilbert AZ, and Rick Hecker of Arizona City, AZ, sister, Hilda Wanner, 18 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Philip, son Randy, son-in- law Robert Kessel, her parents Jack and Rose, sister: Victoria Hecker, and brothers: George Schaff, Ed Schaff, John Schaff, and Walter Schaff.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
