Gay Rasmussen was born August 14, 1946, to Fred and Ruthanna Rasmussen of Havana, ND. She graduated from Havana High School in 1964 before continuing her education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. The group became affectionately known as the Yellow Birds, a name they use to this day. Throughout her life, she was a devoted mother and, later, grandmother and great-grandmother. Pat and Gay welcomed their first grandchild, Tyler Grube, in 1989 as well as Kaitlyn Grube in 1993, Tatyana Egli in 1996, Cassidy Egli in 2003, and Colton Egli in 2004. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and watching their activities.
