Summary: Leland Christian Nicholson, 68, Moffit, ND, passed away June 6, 2023, at a Bismarck hospital. A funeral service was held June 16, 2023, at Glencoe Sloan Church, Burleigh County. Burial was held at the Glencoe Cemetery. Leland was born December 21, 1954, the 6th son of Robert “Art” Nicholson and Carol (Nelson).  Leland grew up on the family ranch and attended grade school in Moffit and high school in Hazelton, ND.  He ranched with his two brothers, Bill and Bernard, until his death. Leland lived a simple life and was very old fashioned though he kept up to date with current events and was intrigued about Bitcoin, smart phones, computers, and Twitter.  He was involved at the Glencoe Sloan Church by helping mow the cemetery and helped at the annual Pancake and Sausage Supper.  Leland was an avid rock collector and was known for operating his tractor, without the cab, wearing his sunhat for protection.  Leland enjoyed visiting with his nieces and nephews, and the neighbor’s son, Ryan. He’d joke and tease them, give them advice about working cattle, and share his knowledge of history.  Leland was very polite, patient, and kind to everyone. Leland is survived by his sister, Vonnie Weisz, of Bismarck; his two brothers, Bill and Bernard (Gale), of Moffit; and sister-in-law, Darnell Nicholson; seven nieces and nephews, Carol (Bruce) Thompson and Shelly Weisz, of Bismarck, Tavis (Beth) Nicholson, of Lincoln ND, Justin and Jordan Nicholson, of Sterling, ND, Nichole (Joe) Schreiner, of Thornton, CO, Alexis (Erik) Gerszewski, of West Fargo ND; and his great-nieces and nephews, Reegan, Olivia, Emerie, Cooper, Axton, Kyra, Isabel, and Rorik. Leland was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald, Lyle, Tom, and Tim; and brother-in-law, John Weisz.
