Summary: Quirina P. Schmidt, 87, of Bismarck, and formerly of Menoken, ND, passed away September 13, 2023, with her family by her side. Mass of Christian burial was held September 19, 2023, at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, Bismarck. Burial was at the Menoken Cemetery. Quirina P. Jacobs was born August 5, 1936, to J.Q. and Violet (Davison) Jacobs, of Regent, ND. She attended St. Mary’s School in New England, ND, from grades first through twelfth and graduated in 1954. After completing high school, she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, graduating in 1956. She went on to work at the State Capitol in the auditor’s office until 1960. On January 4, 1960, Quirina married Melvin Schmidt and moved to join him on the family farm near Menoken. Together they raised six children. At St. Hildegard Catholic Church, Quirina was a member of the Altar Society, served on the Parish Council, was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a CCD teacher. She also served on the board of directors for the Burleigh County Farmers Union and was a volunteer at the Burleigh County Senior Citizen Center. Quirina is survived by her children, Corrine (Mike) Heaton, McKenzie, ND, James Schmidt (Penny Rowinski), Menoken, Jeanne (Kevin) Becker, Bismarck, Margaret (Brian) Wood, Lincoln, ND, Lori (Gerard) Jacob, Linton, ND, and Trish Schmidt, Bismarck; brothers, Alton (Leona) Jacobs, Dickinson, ND, and Leonard (Carol) Jacobs, Reeder, ND; 17 grandchildren, Kari, Joanne, Travis, James, Elizabeth, Christopher, Emily, McKinzie, Davis, Lance, Ben, Joe, Audriana, Clay, Chase, Heidi and Trey; and 17 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; infant son, Michael; parents, J.Q. and Violet Jacobs; brothers, Walt (Lou), Wally (Dybe), LeRoy (Carol), and Jerry (Lucy); and sisters, Leona (Paul) Mischel, Frances (Jack) Wilhelm, Toni Reavis and Irene (Walt) Gion.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
